Sports Premium

St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School received £17,810 in PE & Sport Premium funding for the 2024–25 academic year. This funding was used to enhance the quality of PE teaching, increase participation in physical activity, and broaden sporting opportunities for pupils.

Spending focused on staff professional development, school-based extra-curricular provision, internal/external sports competitions, and equipment and resources, ensuring that pupils had regular access to high-quality physical activity and sport. Investment in staff training and development has had a positive impact on teachers’ confidence and competence in delivering PE, contributing to improved provision across the school.

The funding has had a positive impact on pupil participation, physical activity levels, and engagement in extra-curricular sport, as well as raising the profile of PE and sport within the wider life of the school. Improvements made through this funding are considered sustainable, as they are embedded in staff practice and curriculum provision.

Swimming outcomes were evaluated as an area for further development. In Year 6, 50% of pupils were able to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of 25 metres, 50% could use a range of strokes effectively, and 53% could perform safe self-rescue in water-based situations. Swimming outcomes were identified as an area for further development.
